Pest Control FAQ’s
Is pest control safe for my family?
At P.E.S.T the safety of you, your family and pets are our number one priority. The pesticides we use are designed to be applied at very low concentrations; usually less than 1 percent. These concentrations are high enough to be effective in killing small insects but pose no threat to people.
We carefully select the safest products available to control your pests and are constantly researching and working with new products on the market to keep up with the industry.
All chemicals used are approved and registered by the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). You can visit their website for more information at www.apvma.gov
We do recommend that you remove any pet food and water bowls before we treat your property. We also recommend that you cover fish tanks and that the aerator pump is turned off prior to treatment and are left off for 1 hour after treatment if we are spraying inside your house.
What if I have asthma, allergies or sensitivities to chemicals?
If you have any asthma of allergies problems please let us know and we will tailor an Integrated Pest Management Plan to suit your needs, reducing or eliminating the amount of chemical we use.
Is your pest removal environmentally friendly?
The pesticides we use are scientifically tested and designed to have no adverse effects on your health or the environment. We are also trained to understand safe practices to further reduce any environmental issues.
How often should I have pest control done?
Generally you will only need to have your house treated every 12 months but this will depend on where you live. For example if you live in an area of bush you may need more frequent visits.
If your house has never been treated before or you have a serious pest problem it could take 2 visits over 6 months before we have complete pest control.
Commercial sites, schools, hospitals and nursing homes will most likely need more frequent treatments.
We are committed to persistant and safe pest control for all Tasmanian homes and business.
Do you treat inside my house as well?
This will depend on the type of pest and the level of infestation.
We will try to keep any spraying of chemicals limited to outside the house but in the case of a major infestation inside the house we may have to spray inside the house as well.
Ant baits, cockroach gels and rodent baits most likely will be placed inside the house if required but safe practices are always our number one priority. For example any rodent bait will always be placed in lockable bait stations making them inaccessible to children.
